Awww, I TOTALLY understand as Hot Rod is my first dog ever! I am a bit older than 34 but everything else you've said is just about what I am doing. lol These little ones have a way of weaseling themselves into our hearts don't they. lol.
Just wanted to let you know that Hot Rod was kinda out of it for about 3 days. He had 14 teeth removed when he was neutered. The vet did not send me home with any pain meds and I should have insisted. I think he was in just a bit of pain.
In retrospect I would have insisted. Good luck with your little man and hope yor stomach settles down soon.
