Buddy was like that at that very age. I asked my vet what to do because
he would growl at me when I tried to get things from his mouth. He told
me to push in on each side of his mouth with my fingers to release his jaws.
I have to tell you to be careful because I almost got bit several times doing
this. He would pick up pinecones outside daily and lock those jaws of his
so I couldn't get to it. He was bigger too which didn't help. I'll be honest
and say I put a muzzle on him for a short time to keep him from eating
things like cigarette butts, pine cones etc. because he wouldn't listen to me.
He got a twig stuck in his throat and I raced to the vet at 60mi an hr because he couldn't breath, one night when I got home. The vet removed
it with no problem.
After about two weeks I stopped using the muzzle and he seemed to understand
what he was doing and it stopped. Thank heavens. I never saw a puppy
lock it's jaws like he use to do. It was scary. Perhaps take a treat with
you and make an exchange. I never thought of that at the time. |
