My vet recommend 1 yr old, to ensure they were fully grown and developed, as it can effect their growth.

Toby was 9 months when he was neutered. He had to have surgery for Legg Perthes, so they did him when he was under. They vet was satisfied that he was fully grown and it should cause no issues.

I also waited until Millie was 1 yr old, but that one didnt work out just as well. Poor Millie RIP.

Just to add. Toby was a well established marker, inside and out, usually trying to mark over where Maisie peed in the house. Since he was neutered, he hasnt marked, (though his housetraining has slipped backward a bit for some reason), and he has returned to squatting to pee.
