There is a critical period of time on yorkie puppies ears where they start to stand on their own, if they are not properly taken care of in that period of time then they will not stand. Some puppies ears stand on their own with no work, but breeders who know what they are doing will shave the hair down on the top 1/3 of the ear which will allow them to stand easier without that extra weight holding them down. Some ears still need to be taped, with basic scotch tape on top of some gauze lengthwise, even after being shaved. If the ears are shaved down and not standing on their own by 3 months they should be taped for a few days on and off until they stop folding on their own. If the ears are not standing by the time the puppy is teething it will be unlikely that they do stand (this is usually around 6 months).Hope this is helpful. |
