That doesn't sound like a bad idea! At least it's not in the house!
When Jackson was a pup, I let him go in the garage once during a heavy rain storm. Also, we had a big snow storm a few weeks ago here and I let him go on the porch (since our porch alone had a foot of snow - it was basically like being outside!) lol.
