OMG territorial barking help please!! It's not exactly getting worse, I think just some days is more active outside here than other days.
Lolli is very good with barking she is slowly learning to stop when I say no barking, but when it comes to the territorial barking (when someone is outside and she can hear them talking or see them walking through the back doors) she will NOT LISTEN! I have tried the bark repeller and other such annoying noises and clapping and trying to talk quietly or talking firmly or talking loudly and nothing seems to work right now! Even if she stops for a couple seconds that's all it is. She will continue when she nears the noise!
The problem is we live in a community for boaters, we have no back yard because it is all grassy walkways to get to the docks. So anyone is allowed back there to walk around and talk, etc. It doesn't help the front of the townhouse is pretty paper-thin so anyone talking out front in the parking lot near our unit is audible also..
Can anyone please give me tips? I don't always have treats around when she freaks out, because now it's started that she does it when she is UPSTAIRS where we gate off the hallway so she has a hallway/bathroom/my room to be in and it's on the front end of the upstairs. So today she's shown that she barks at noises she even hears from the BACK of the house..
I can try to have little baggies around with treats I guess but there has to be something someone can advise me to help besides just treats. We do that a little as well as use lots of praise when she is quiet after asking her to 'no barking' but yeah.. I'm going crazy. I can't even take a nap without being startled half to death just after falling asleep.. |
