It is so nice to hear that Jack is doing better.
Hang in there hun, sending you lots of hugs. You never get over the death of a pet. My Chloe was only 10 months old and she was extremely healthy, but the vet did something wrong when they fixed her and she passed away shortly after. I'll never forget her and the kids often mention her and cry about her passing.
