Our horses don't wear halters while in the pastures because one time one horse did not come up at night to be fed went looking for him and somehow someway he got his halter caught in a tree branch and could not get loose. I feel a dog collar could do the same thing to a dog .
All dogs here are chip and have I all the necessary papers for everything else. |
In some places you are required to have collars/halters on certain animals at all times. Where I am there is a "leash law" that applies to dogs, cats, and horses (should a horse get loose from a pasture without a halter the farm owner is responsible for all damage... If they are wearing one it is a different story). They must have a collar/halter on whenever they are out of the house. Should a dog or cat be out without a collar and be picked up by the town there can be a pretty big fine.
