toy breeds mature slower than larger breeds, that's why it's important that they stay with mom and siblings till 12 weeks. (a lot of important developments for them during this time both physically and socially, they are still learning and they need their mom and siblings) larger breeds are ready to leave mom and siblings at 8 weeks i believe. they mature faster.
