When I started using milk thistle almost 11 years ago no one had really heard of it, including my vet. When I asked her about it, she said she would research it for me. Her conclusion was that there was no harm in trying it as she could find no known side effects or potential problems with it.
Of course, now it is part of an accepted protocol for treating dogs with liver disease.
