I did foster a rescue toy poople many years ago with a similiar problem. Charlie, had a rib removed because it had been bed shattered. At the time he had surgery they didn't feel he was ready for a corrective measure. He also had several other more serious issues. When he began to heal he was so ready to play. for about 3 months I would wrap him in an ace bandage and t-shirt to keep the fragile area protected. Best of luck to you both!!
