Does your yelp sound "fun", or serious? You must mean it, if it sounds like something you say, in play, he may not be hearing your meaning.
Set him down, and walk away. Instantly , consistently , and without further address !
i used to own a dachshund and it worked for him as a puppy. And i used to say to him "biting is for bad boys and kissing is for good boys" and he would actually listen and kiss lol. I tried it with the yorkie and he is starting to understand the phrase a bit. but he gets into these moods. Like for example, we went to the vet today and i was holding him and because he did not like where he was facing (me) he started to growl and nip my hands (to face the doctor). i was told by the groomer that he did this to her as well. Some people told me to give him a tap on the nose, but i can not bring myself to do that.
