Thanks for all the great tips here. Duke is starting to get some matts. They are mainly on his front legs and chest from his sweater. I tend to leave him in the sweater 24/7 to keep him warm.
It sounds like I should be taking it off for periods of time. I'm working on getting his matts out and he's going to visit the groomer on Saturday. He's 7 months so it could be that he's getting his adult coat as well.
