 Mama killing pups?
I have two pups out of a litter of four (two died) that are one day old. My concern is the fact that I just had one put down because I found a very small place that looked like a tooth mark on it side under its rib. It was oozing out and the vet said it was damaged internally so I had to put her down. I got home and checked on the other two that are doing well and also noticed one of them has the same type marks in the same place, just not as deep and not oozing. What are the chances that the mama is actually trying to kill them? What would be your opinion on what to do with them? Take them away from mama and bottle feed or leave them with her? I have not seen her hurting them and I have been supervising her constantly. I am at a loss at what to do because they are thriving right now and I don't want to change that, but on the other hand I don't want to leave them with her if she is possibly killing them. Any help would be appreciated! |
