I kept looking at the teacher and she kept on telling me that Yorkies were known for that and he was fine. Ok, well maybe he is fine? but I'm not fine with it because I feel SOOO bad. We use a harness from petsmart and we thought that was suppose to be better than a collar. Does anyone have any suggestions on the kind of harness to get? and where to buy them? Is this okay that he is doing it or is our teacher wrong? Tell me I am over exaggerating.

Collar's should never be used on a Yorkie for walking purposes.
Yorkies have delicate throats and yes they cough or honk when stress
is put on their throats, hence no collars. Any harness which is away
from the throat area is fine. A puppia harness is great as well.
Watch that cough. If it happens once in awhile it's ok, if it happens
quite frequently I would have it checked by your vet.
Some call it reverse sneezing which is ok but it in some cases it
can become a collasped treachea leaving the dog gasping for air.
Yours sounds like reverse sneezing and yes Yorkies have a tendency
of doing this.
