First I have to say I'm completely addicted to this site!!!
Duke is going to his first professional grooming appointment this Saturday. (which is stressing me after reading some of the stories here) He's almost 8 months. Until now I have been bathing him at least every 2 weeks, and fighting with him for brushing..lol
He's getting a few matts mainly due to his sweater I think. I want to take care of them before he gets to bad.
The groomer asked me how I wanted him cut and she mentioned the puppy cut. I have never had a Yorkie or any other small dog that required haircuts before. I assume the puppy cut is the shorter cut. I would like to leave him with the longer Yorkie hair, but right now he looks like a rag-a-muffin
He has very fluffy hair especially on his head. I try to pull up a small top knot, but that hairs seems to get almost matted under the band due to it being so thin.
I'm wondering what pointers you guys can give me for getting him trimmed up? If I clip him shorter will that help his adult hair come in quicker/thicker?
On that note, how long does it take for the adult hair to come in, and should I expect color changes. I have read that this could take 2 years and he might change colors a couple times before that.
Sorry to be so long winded. Thanks for any advice in advance.
