Giardia isn't uncommon, but then the only dogs I've ever seen with it were the rescues I've taken in from bad breeders. They don't treat for it effectively, nor do they keep clean kennels, so the dogs get re-infected and continue to pass it on to the other pups. The hookworm is a common puppy worm and normally isn't a problem if the breeder treats their dogs.
Giardia in some cases is not that easy to treat, also it can be difficult to diagnose as it doesn't always show in a fecal sample.
You can and probably should tell the breeder, but my guess is the breeder already knows.
