Stress situations can bring Giardia up on a puppy, specially a new enviroment, so yes I would say is more common, I never had a baby tested positive for it but a lot of my friends have. medication should clear it up, also hookworms are very common on puppies, they should be dewormed at least twice before they go to their new home and you should have a fecal done when you take your baby to his first vet appt. and congratulations on your new baby..
