I don't know if this helps you any... but when I was switching Kaji to piddle pads recently, he refused to potty (pee or poo) until taken outside. But, after realizing (it took a few days) he wasn't going to be taken outside he finally squatted to poo, but it was rock hard! So, to help him out, I massaged his hinney and it helped. The way I massaged it is quite literrally like I was milking. I put my thumb and index finger on either side of his hinney and softly tried to massage what was stuck out. It worked, he pooped.
