No its not silly to pay for a mixed breed if there is a proper breeding program, and the sires and dams have been health tested and are being bred for a purpose other than looking cute. Otherwise and breeding of a mutt is silly to me.
And when you get a purebred from a reputable breeder you aren't just paying for papers. You are paying for the breed standard, and a dog that potential is healthy because it has been tested. Not every purebred breeder is a BYB. |
