My dogs are outside trained now but I did use washable while potty training and while raising a litter of pups. If there was any solid material left on the pad I would just rinse the pad well in my laundry sink before putting it in the washer. I also use a little bleach in the pee pad loads. The disposable pads quickly were shredded by my yorkies and it was QUITE the mess.
