While we were there he asked about having her spayed. She is 9 months and weighs 2.8lbs. I have heard the horror stories of little ones not coming back from surgery. Should I or should I not? There are benificial reasons but there are great risks too. I want to do what is best for her despite my fear! |
first i would not give fish oil if doing spay as it can affect blood clotting so it should not be given before a surgery
Note: Because omega-3s inhibit blood clotting, avoid taking fish oil supplements two weeks before and one week after surgery. Consult a doctor before taking the supplements if you have a chronic blood disorder.

i would have spay for sure as females can get pyometra if not spayed and not bred and it can be deadly and your baby is 9 mos so before first heat would be best and it can also avoid breast cancer in them
Pyometra & Uterus Infections in Dogs
Here is safest way to do spay
pre blood work panel, free catch urinalysis
propofol, isoflurine, iv fluids and catheterization
If your vet does all of this then you should be fine
