The red-eye reduction will cause blinking. With the new flash, and if you bounce it, you should be able to turn off red-eye and not get red eye in her pics (not sure if you have it in your camera menu or on the flash menu)
Yes, sorry. The pre-flash is for red eye reduction, Nikon has different terms for it
