That is a nice looking flash! Ok, I have a Nikon, but the buttons are similar. Your flash can do a lot of advanced stuff, but if all you want for now is to shoot and not worry about it, there should be a "TTL" mode when you press the "mode" button. You should be able to cycle through different modes. Just put it in TTL mode and the flash will match with whatever settings you use on your cam .

The Pilot button (red) is to just test the flash

The :"slave" switch don't worry about unless you use multiple flashes

One more thing I thought of, you may have some settings in your camera menu to set your external flash, if so, just set it to "TTL mode and you will be all set

Hope this helps, you won't regret getting the flash

I found this site that offers a training dvd for the flash, but haven't seen tutorials online yet, going to check
