Lady's HGE episodes came out of the blue with no warning. She was put on Cephalexin as part of her treatment.

Scariest thing I ever went through with her. The first two times her packed volume was on the low range for HGE so subq fluids and antibiotics were all she needed. The third (and last) time her packed volume was 90. She was in the hospital for two days. I nearly lost her.

HGE is one disease you cannot take a "wait & see" attitude. Since Yorkies are prone to HGE, everyone needs to be aware of the symptoms. Immediate supportive care can mean the difference between life and death.
Thank you sooo much for the information for both myself and for others - this can be a life saver if ever in the same situation! I hope that you never have to experience this again with your little Lady!
