It is common practice for the female to be taken to the stud's home. She should be taken just as she is coming into Season, so that she can settle in and become accustomed to the new environment. It's very unusual for a stud to perform out of his environment. Unless he's a very confident, seasoned stud. The option would be to take the female to the home of the stud just for the breeding, take her home and bring her back. There are a couple of reasons for this method; 1. The stud won't be up holling all night and/or go off food. 2. Some females can, stop their Heat Cycle.
