The microchip is the "high-tech id tag" for animals. It's placed under the skin in the neck or just below the neck in the back (between the shoulder blades). Of the 5 yorkies and 1 biewer I have...4 of them are chipped. I will be getting the other 2 chipped as soon as they have to be asleep for something else. I will NOT microchip them without them being asleep for something else as the needle for that is somewhat large and on these little fellas, it's somewhat stressful on 'em. No need to put them out for the chip alone however.
