[The_Momma_Bear]

It has been a grueling long 12 hours, but mom and babies seem to be enjoying each other. Momma started with the mild contractions and digging around 3:30 am....sometime around 9 am her contractions got "serious". First puppy arrived at 12:09 pm, male, .5 3/8 oz; Second puppy arrived almost an hour later, 12:59 pm, male, .4 3/8 oz; Third puppy wasted no time arriving and appeared at 1:19 pm, male, .4 5/8 oz; Last puppy scared me....did not arrive until 2:30 pm, male, .4 3/8 oz. The last puppy presented a brown fluid prior to birth and momma vomited between the third and fourth puppy. I had the vet on speed dial, when she decided to push him out. He was not breathing, so I had to break the sac and assist. He was pink within moments and on his momma teet.
The only problem is that she never delivered the fourth placenta. I am probably looking at a visit to the vet in the morning to clean that out. She is still shivering, so perhaps she will still expel it. (any advise)

Momma is washed up. Puppies and Momma are snuggled in the bed where it's nice and warm and comfy. I think I will enjoy a small glass of pinot grigio and watch the after glow.
