I took Gunnar for his regular shots, he is 16 months, and was shocked when the vet said that he has LP1 in both knees! Worse in the right knee. I'm very upset. He shows no signs, no limping or lifting a leg while running. She mailed me information, but didn't give me information on how to help him.
So, I'll read the article that Capt_noonie gave to lovespandp. I'm just beside myself because he is so young! I hope I can still get insurance on him. One thing I haven't done yet. He is now microchipped and weighs 7.8lbs.
My best to Peanut! Donna
Grade 1 is usually caused by a injury. Insurance can be a bit tricky.....and will probably argue that it is inherited......it's their way of not paying out on the claim.

Insurance I have through AKC did that with me on one of my Show Dogs......he dislocated his left hip as a pup......too active and climbing out of his x-pen.......My vet performed the surgery and I submitted the paper work along with the vet costs.....they came back and said his condition was caused by an inherited condition. My vet wrote back to them submitting all tests and x-rays showing them the problem had been caused by trauma. Took about 6 months but, finally had to have an orthopedic surgeon verify that it was an injury.....finally got reimbursed.
