Congratulations on your new puppy! My puppy Winston is also a yorkiepoo. We've had him since 10/24. He's never peed in his crate, but will occassionally pee in the same spot in the den, by the door. I figure it's my own fault since I didn't take him out in time. I tried wee wee pads but he shredded them & didn't use them. I even tried taping it to the floor & then he just peed next to it.
To get him to start going outside someone recommended really praising him as he was sniffing around - "good boy" & stuff like that. It was the only thing that worked. I'm in NY & last night they said it was 5 degrees. I take Winston out, praise him & he goes right away so we can get back inside. He also now will sit near the door & let out a bark to signal me that it's time to go. It took about a month, and like I said, he still will pee on the floor if I ignore his bark. My husband tends to want to use the bathroom/change his own clothes before he brings the dog out and since he's taking so long that's usually when Winston will wind up wetting the floor. |
