We, at one time, had neighbors that had two dogs with a bad case of ticks and fleas. Needless to say they soon were in our yard. We elected to use granules to treat our entire yard, and we have a very big yard. We didn't want to take any chances at all. Several years ago I was hospitalized with tick fever and I was very sick for quite awhile. So, I understand you urgency in wanting to address this asap. Good luck!
