Thank you!
Jackson is 1 year old (and 3 months to be exact). I honestly NEVER expected to be into training when I got Jackson but I quickly realized how smart he was and put him to work. It helps during these Winter months when we can't really go outside as much to keep him occupied and keep his brain movin'. I trained him using various different methods I saw on YouTube as well as through reading. I've heard great things about clicker training but have yet to try it out. I did just buy a clicker so we're gonna give it a whirl.
He does learn pretty quickly (of course, he's no Border Collie ) but certain tricks will take him longer than others. He learned crawl in about 2 minutes (we're still working on fading the treat lure) but it took him 2 weeks to learn "bang bang, you're dead" and we're still working on perfecting take a bow... he's not 100% consistent with it yet. Some YouTube sites I used were usernames kikopup and zakgeorge21 but if you do a few searches you will find more! A great beginner site is Dog Tricks! Shake, Crawl, Beg, Kiss, Roll Over, Bow, and more! |
I just checked that site out! That is an amzing site, easy to follow steps to help you teach the simple lil tricks. Thanks so much!!
