I have a liver compromised dog who has severe allergies. She is on the Hill's diet because the RC hepatic causes itching in some dogs. You could try the hills and see if that helps. You also could do what I did when I got frustrated -- I took her to a dermatologist and we now have her on Neoral solution to keep her allergies at bay. Her hair grew back and although she still has allergies, the symptoms are much more under control.

Benadryl never did anything for her either.
