I leave the food down until its finished. But my Lilly is gaining to much weight. Its very hard to limit 3 dogs. You put down all the dishes and the next thing you know the fat ones are eating the left overs.
And my answer to your question is once they hit the 1 year mark its 1 feeding.
I always cut back to only two feedings at around 7-9 months.
