I concur. I was going to suggest the same thing. My two youngest go on the pee pads and outside. I love it. It makes it so much easier for me when I can't be home for a while. They still need to outside and potty quite often at 5 months. Its also nice to have that option when its pouring rain or if you live in a cold area...its nice not to send them outside in a blizzard
don't give up if you want to go with the pee pads. I followed the suggestions noted and it worked.
