I didnt thing the bells were loud enough, so i hooked up chimes in my
front door.. I would sit down by the bells with a treat in the beginning,
i would take lexi's paw and say ring the bell and say good girl then give her a treat.. i would do this every day.. constantly saying ring the bell.. After awhile she got it.. she wouldnt use her paw though,,she would use her nose to ring it.. i would inch farther back each day. after a few days i was able to go about 15 feet from the door and i would sit down on the floor and say, ring the bell , lexi would run towards the door, ring the bell and come back to me for her treat.. some times i would say it and she would run to the bell but her nose didnt catch the bell so therefore it didnt ring, she would turn back around and try to ring it again.soooo funny.. After she got that.. i would say , do you wanna go out? ring the bell and trained her that way.. so whenever she wanted to go out, she would ring it.. sometimes in the middle of the night, but just to be nosy, not even to do potty.. they are sooo smart, so keep at it.. it will work promise |
