good question..

I enrolled my lil one earlier this year after doing a lot of research and shopping around for policies and signed up with Trupanion (www.trupanionpetinsurance.com). They have been very helpful already, as we had to file an accident claim. I don't know what i would have done if he wasn't insured. It has already paid for itself. My premium is affordable and definitely gives me peace of mind, especially the accident and surgery ordeal we had to deal with over the summer. They are super helpful and suuuuper nice to deal with when you call with questions

What I like about trupanion is that you can pick your own deductible, they pay 90% of your vet bill, their premiums don't increase with pets age, as it does with most other companies, and they cover hereditary and congenital disorders.

I would recommend avoiding benefits schedules because sometimes these flat rates are far less than what your vet charges you. I also recommend to avoid routine coverage (regular exams, vaccines, etc), because you are just paying the costs through higher premiums thus not saving any money, but in most cases, losing money.

Hope this helps!

oOh! also..for an unbiased review, you should check out www.petinsurancereview.com
