Yesterday another call. A woman near us saw a yorkie running through neighbor's yards and this time this caller was following the dog and didnt leave it. This was close to 5 pm and I had just started to cook dinner. I wasnt excited or anything but then she tells me he was limping. Oh geeze she got my attention. I shut off the stove, grabbed my sweater and cell phone/purse.
I drove there and I wanted to rush because it was only like 2 minutes away but the whole time there was a school bus and I was driving like 35 mph.
I wanted to go through the grass honestly!

I get there and see the woman in a mini van waiving me down. So I walk to the house and walked around to the yard. When we get there , we both gasped. There is a long canal that runs along all those homes. I mean LONG like 1 mile. I told her any dog that is just running back here has been lost a while and tries to keep away from people or traffic. She described him but he seemed too big. She knew it was a male because it hiked his leg to pee. It had short hair also. I walked along as many homes as I could and I had a clear view all the way along the canal but he was gone and probably went back to the front of a house. I was freezing and I look at myself and I'm in thin sweatpants a tshirt and light sweater....again in flip flops. Toes wet and frozen.

Went back home finished dinner, hubby left for gym and I left again
I found a young German Shepard running scared. No collar or tags running by the canal and out to the street. OMG I tried getting him, calling him. When I called him I could tell he heard me but he would NOT turn his face to me. I would call and the dog would look slightly to the side and down. It was very cold for a dog to be out. It reached freezing lastnight and this morning because my car windows were full of ice.

I got another call earlier from a woman who found a female yorkie. It was a big Yorkie maybe 11 lbs. She said she saw it drinking from a small canal/ditch
and she figured it was a neighbor's dog. But the next day the dog was still there! She knew it was too cold so she was able to get the yorkie. Took her home and she fed her. She said the yorkie ate like there was no tomorrow lol. The hair was dirty, dirty so she gave her a bath and took her for a vet checkup and to get scanned. No microchip The vet said that it looks like she's been out for many days.

I posted this on craigslist but so far no one has posted that they lost a female Yorkie.

Either more dogs are escaping or people are abandoning dogs
in our area.
