Usually a thin coat has always produced a silky coat yorkie for me. But I do have one male I had to keep because they were not selling in the summer and his hair is not good. Thin wirey and he is a big boy, like 8lbs so I think I do not have a scale for big ones. His top of his head is good but the lower half is not. So I do feed them all natural food and chicken so I am hoping his hair comes in beautiful. Only time will tell.
Oh yes and Louie is 9 months also.
