The crate should be really small (only big enough for her to turn around, stand, and lay down in). Dogs naturally will not potty in their sleeping space (most of the time anyways!) You usually leave the dog in the crate whenever you cannot watch 24/7, take out to potty every hour or so just to start (when you're home) if she does not go... back in the crate. That's the principle of it anyways.
