Well initial research reflects that it is more than likely Clostridium Perfringens, which apparently can be cultured in 80% of dogs, with or without symptoms

It does appear that the meds given are standard and I just hope this nips it in the butt (literally!) and that there is no underlying condition nor potential for a chronic problem.

Still open to any insight and/or experience.
