i had the same problem with my puppy,they sense you its not your foot steps, i tried a few liitle things like make a point of ignoring your puppy when ypu walk into a room til they calm down,give them a treat when they are quitly sitting in there bed been good,the crying during the night also happened to me i would open the crate door a nd say a firm NO everytime she did it and after about 5 or 6 nights it stopped i relly hope this helps
