It's funny how all states and vets are different.. My vet said that small breed dogs should have shots at 6,9,12,and 15wks to ensure that they get enough and we have a low cost clinic here that charges $11.00 for the shots.. My opinion about breeders that let them go to early is this.. First of all, you can not change their minds about letting them go so early, so if you don't buy the puppy, then someone else will and it may be a someone who doesn't get their shots at all.. Second of all, if they are so eager to get rid of the puppies, then even if you do convince them to keep them longer, they will NOT play with them or socialize them and then you are no better off than if you had gotten him at 6wks and then YOU socialized him and cared for him.. You can't change people, but you can prevent the puppy from suffering by taking him ..Sorry to make this so long, but for example..I am getting a female on Friday that is 6wks old, I got Tucker when he was 8wks from the same breeder.. I do not like the fact that they do not socialize or spend time with the parents.. The adults live in a kennel and have no human contact, but they take great medical care of the adults and puppies. I have gone to visit Maddie every week since she was born and have bonded with her.. Then last week the breeder says that they wish that they had not already sold her cause then they would keep her for breeding..I love that little girl and am not about to leave her to be bred for the rest of her life...She is to young to come home, but as long as I know what I am doing, then she is better off coming home with me then staying there... |
