I know about mom's like that, my mom is like that times 10! We can't get takeout and "give her the night off" without her getting offended. I bought her a coach purse too using AMEX gift cards at the outlet store. It's a really nice bag, not a crazy color, and she really likes it. I got lucky that time but if I try to get her a matching wallet, I know she'll bite my head off.
