Yes, neutering him will make him less dominant towards your family. This would be the first step that I would take, and then start some serious training. If you can't afford a trainer, do some research. Even the people around here could probably help you alot. I'm glad that you are trying to find a solution to this problem, rather than just giving up on the little guy.
