That may be true, to a degree. Sometimes what happens in nature isn't always best. That is why now we know better and our dogs as well as humans have longer life expentancies. Even a 13 year old is "recommended" an abortion because it could put her life in jeopardy. Not that I agree with abortion completely, but that is a different issue.
My cousin's dog, a 7 lb rat terrier accidently was mated by a husky. They rushed her to the vet who had to fix everything torn up. He had to terminate one pupppy and spade her. Thankfully now she is living happily ever after. Unfortunately, Sometimes these things just happen. At least your dog wasn't hurt in all of this. I think she'll end up being fine though.
