the first test is pre and post bile acid which cost me $72 and then if they are over 100 the next test is scintigraphy which is about $390 here in california and that will determine if there is a shunt. The protein c test is a blood test that is being done as well not sure how much that is but i personally helped a dog that had 3 shunts and the protein c test came up negative so not real sure how accurate that one is after experiencing that

If pre and post below 100 most likely mvd which is what my yorkie dee dee has - she had 3 bile acids over the course of a year and first was 73 second 56 and third on low protein diet 26 these are all the post numbers her pre were all exactly the same 3
