We got our washables from Ryan too & love them! I wash it twice but in the 1st load, I do add a tiny bit of bleach to kill any germs (maybe 2 tbspns a load). Then the 2nd wash gets a little bit of laundry detergent to kill any smell.
I put it in the dryer w/dryer balls for about 10 mins & then hang dry. They wash up great!
