Well guys, there's my letter. I hope it actually makes a difference.
Kevin Brady,
I would like to ask you to help spread the awareness of puppy mills, and do something about this huge problem. Not everyone has the power to make a change this large, so we need yours and other representatives help.
Puppy mills are sites of mass puppy production, where the dogs are treated extremely inhumane; and where their only purpose in life is to produce puppies for profit. These dogs are housed in huge warehouses, given little to no vet care, kept in cages barely big enough for them to stand up, with only enough food to get them from day to day alive, and tortured to no end. Do you think this is fair? I honestly hope not. Something has to be done, this is NOT right. We live in America; there is no reason for animals to be living like this.
People who are uneducated on this subject visit pet stores daily and buy puppies for exorbitant amounts of money. Never knowing where the adorable puppies parents came from, or that half their litter died on the transport truck to the store. Also, they buy these dogs not knowing that it is most likely so sick that its life may never be a normal, happy, and healthy one.
Please help to spread the awareness that this horrifying thing is really happening. If millions of homeless animals are euthanized each year because we do not have enough room for them, why should dog broker operations like Hunt Corp. (the largest dog broker in the U.S.) be allowed to mill out thousands of them with no consequences serious enough to stop them?
The quality of life for these innocent animals is not fair in any way imaginable. For most of them, the peace of death is the best thing that ever happens to them. There are so many horror stories associated with these puppy mills. I haven’t visited one myself, but I have seen the pictures. I urge you to research this more, and realize that something HAS to be done. I may only be 15 years old, but I have made myself aware of puppy mills. I can only hope that this letter will help in the progress of stopping these puppy mills forever. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Megan Johnson |
