Well, if you think about it the self-cleaning oven is literally burning off baked on food. And I think animals have a built in fear of fire. Some are just more fearful than others. Next time set your oven to start cleaning at 2 or 3 in the morning.
Our little Skeeter wasn't afraid of the oven cleaning itself until I turned on the whole-house fan and he was standing right under it. He jumped about a foot in the air and went to hide behind the toilet. LOL. Now whenever we broil steak he goes and hides too. Poor little guy. He is a fearful fat puppy.
